Therapeutic approaches offered by PsyCam

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Surbala Morgan specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and this is her primary approach.
  • This is an evidence based therapy proven to be effective with the whole range of mental health problems.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Surbala Morgan also offers Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCBT)- a past research interest and a therapy which she helped to create and develop in the early 1990s.
  • Working with the research team at the Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in Cambridge, Surbala ran the first pilot study here, using MBCBT to reduce relapse rates for people prone to depression. She is one of the first practitioners qualified to use this approach and trains other clinicians in mindfulness and MBCBT.
  • MBCBT and mindfulness techniques are now widely recognised as effective in helping people to manage their mental states and overcome psychological difficulties.
Surbala's other influences include Gestalt Psychotherapy and Integrative Psychotherapy.

PsyCam is committed to offering quality, evidence-based practice and empowering people to learn and use for themselves psychological skills, independent of any therapist/psychologist.
